Some of the topics include: extract brewing, partial mash brewing, hop techniques, how to design a great beer recipe, and three chapters dedicated to brewing specific beer styles. So, the topics of modern brewing are presented within a strong historical context.

These books are written for brewers and they're all about how these particular sour styles are done. First, you need to read several "intro to craft beer" type books, they cover loads of material you need to know.

Previous page. I love that this book scratches away at the why of beer: Why does British pub culture exist? This book is even better than his blog. This book will take you through the most basic techniques needed for that first batch of extract-only beer on through your first try at all-grain.

It can probably do the same for you. It contained equipment descriptions, process descriptions and some of the Why's of homebrewing.
